What they say about him…

Sometimes words cannot fully express our feelings, because emotion can’t always be explained. Each one lives then in his own way, like that race at Milan Idroscalo in 1992, when I saw the catamaran, with Guido Cappellini inside, flying like a dead leaf blown by the wind. A few moments before, I had just shouted: “Come on, go win!”. I felt so bad, but I suddenly ran to the paddock where Guido had been carried on a stretcher and I saw him still and suffering. At that moment, his was not the radiant face I had seen in 1989 mid-July, when he climbed the top of the podium , after winning the F.1 Inshore GP of Italy, at M.I.L.A., in Como. At the same moment, I also realized that an accident would not have been enough to stop him. And so it was. He made so many “falls” and triumphs, until he won his first World Championship in 1993, and in 2009 he reached the tenth, cutting a milestone never achieved by anyone else. A great driver, a true champion, no doubt. Maybe sometimes he exaggerated, like the “hammering” on the computers of the Plovdiv timekeepers, or not everyone liked him.He was a great anyway, because he was able to look ahead and draw from the defeats and the disappointments new motivation to improve his results. Stubbornness, inventiveness, experimentation: all skills which allowed him to be the best in research, eached time aimed to technological progress and safety development of his hulls and, ultimately, of the powerboating. After so many triumphs as a driver, nowaday Guido Cappellini is the number one as a Team manager and exceptional coach. He is a champion that the Abu Dhabi Team did not let slip: he will do it better and better, and get so many successes! .
